Obsidian’s Upcoming Fantasy RPG ‘Avowed’ Set to Launch in 2024 for PC and Xbox

Avowed, the highly anticipated first-person fantasy RPG from Obsidian Entertainment, has finally given fans a glimpse of what’s to come. During Xbox’s SGF showcase, viewers were treated to a showcase of magical spells, battle dynamics, and mythical beasts that players will encounter. What sets Avowed apart is the ability to use swords, guns, and magical incantations. As with previous Obsidian games, companions will play a significant role, with the first companion being Kai, a “Coastal Aumaua,” who is one of the few friendly faces players will encounter.

The game is set in the same universe as the crowdfunded Pillars of Eternity, so you can expect to see more playful writing and storytelling. You play as an Aedyr emissary investigating rumors of a plague. It all seems to go downhill from there. The trailer for “Forge your destiny” hints that you can choose to be a good guy or a (very) bad guy. It looks like it might scratch the Elder Scrolls itch until Elder Scrolls 6 finally shows itself.

Avowed is scheduled to be released in 2024.
